Exclusive | Orange County football mom who stole $411,000 from high school team busted in FBI raid

A Southern California woman entrusted with hundreds of thousands of dollars raised to support a beloved high school football team was arrested by the FBI Thursday morning for stealing more than $411,000 to pay her mortgage and credit card bills.Federal agents collared Julie Hanway Molina, 56, at her house in Aliso Viejo.Officers wearing flack jackets and carrying pistols surrounded suburban, two-story home where Melina lived and then called on a bullhorn for her to “come out with your hands up.”Molina emerged from the front door a few minutes later.

She wore a look of shock as she was cuffed and placed in a black sedan by federal officers.She is charged with four federal counts of wire fraud.Los Angeles’ top federal prosecutor Bill Essayli said her alleged actions represent a serious breach of trust and that prosecutors will seek a stiff prison sentence.“This defendant was entrusted by the community with safeguarding money raised for young adults.

She violated that trust and is now a charged felon,” Essayli told The California Post.“Our prosecutors are committed to holding her fully accountable, including seeking a federal prison sentence.”Molina was treasurer of an Orange County nonprofit described in the federal indictment as a volunteer organization established to promote and enhance a high school football program.The indictment does not name the victim nonprofit.

Based on public sources identified incouirt documents, however, the victim appears to be the Wolverines Football Club, the organization that funds the Wolverines football team at Aliso Niguel High School.Aliso Niguel High School is public high school withing the Capistrano Unified School District serving students in grades 9 through 12 from the communities of Aliso Viejo and Laguna Niguel.Located on Wolverine Way, it has been recognized as a California Distinguished School.Aliso Niguel’s beloved sports teams are known as the Wolverines.
