Terrill)"In talking to Shohei, the doctors, the training staff, it’s the right thing to do.We tried to kick the can as much as we could."Roberts insisted that if the postseason began Thursday, Ohtani would be in the lineup, and he expects Ohtani to come off the injured list on the 15th day.
The two-way star will not travel with the team on its upcoming East Coast road trip."Let’s get his body feeling well and then slowly ramp back up because now we do have time," Roberts said.Roberts said Ohtani will take a two- or three-day rest to "calm his arm down."If Ohtani indeed returns on the 15th day of his stint on the injured list, he would return on Sept.22, giving him just six games to reacclimate to live pitching again before the Dodgers begin their quest to win their third straight World Series title."It's certainly not ideal," Roberts admitted.
