Baauer and Flux Pavilion, two of electronic music’s most inventive producers, have joined forces for a new single.Out now via Flux’s Circus Records, ‘Beat Goes Boom’ is a propulsive rave track running roughshod with the kind of off-kilter drum syncopation that has become a signature for both artists.
Baauer has long specialized in unpredictable rhythm, producing arrangements with soulful samples that lull listeners before yanking the rug away with wonky drops, while Flux Pavilion has spent the last few years expanding his pioneering dubstep to experiment with breakbeat and trance-inspired sounds.They flex those genre-bending instincts here as galloping horn sections lead us to wonky, punishing drops.
Flux is currently working on a new album, which he confirmed in March, though it’s unclear whether or not ‘Beat Goes Boom’ will appear.His last solo album came back in 2021, when he released his scintillating .wav LP.
