Francisco Lindor stays red-hot with big day in rout of Yankees: What we should have been doing

Lindor’s five-RBI performance led an offensive attack that also included homers from Luis Torrens, Carson Benge, Juan Soto and Jared Young.The six homers were a season high for the Mets. “It’s been an uphill fight this year,” Lindor said, referring to injuries within the lineup — including a calf strain that sidelined him for two months.

“It just sucks that we haven’t played as much together.But when we do play together and we are all in the same lineup, this is what we should have been doing since the beginning.” Lindor, with seven homers in his past 12 games, continued a hot stretch.

The grand slam was the eighth of his career and sixth in a Mets uniform.His previous regular-season grand slam was delivered Aug.
