Nevada Is the Only State Where EDM Was the Most-Searched Music Genre, Study Finds

Nevada was the only state in the country where EDM outranked every other music genre in Google searches, according to a new study from the ticketing platform SeatPick. The analysis measured state-level search interest across 18 genres over the 12 months ending in August, 2026, then assigned each state the genre for which it indexed highest.

Pop led in 13 states and metal in 11.Meanwhile, EDM held just one, and the resulting map makes the outlier plain as plain as a single block in the desert, wedged between pop in California and Arizona and a wall of metal across the Mountain West.

Perhaps the more revealing detail is who is driving those searches.SeatPick identified Lady Gaga as the top artist behind Nevada’s EDM interest, which says less about the state’s club calendar than it does about the term itself.

It’s always been the case that “EDM” functions as a mainstream catch-all, substituting for genre-specific terms the dance community actually uses.House, techno and drum & bass were not measured separately here, which means a state that lives and breathes electronic music got flattened into one search term with a pop star as its figurehead.
