Andrew and Tristan Tate are languishing in a hellish, roach-infested and feces-filled Florida detention center as they battle extradition to the UK on dozens of disturbing charges, including rape and human trafficking.The brothers have been housed at the Federal Detention Center in Miami since they were arrested on July 18 – and the new digs are a far cry from the high-flying, lavish lifestyle that the misogynistic influencers built their brand upon.Detainees housed at the facility have described the squalid conditions to family members.“This horrible stench of piss seeps out from under the doors, because there’s piss, there’s s—t inside, and the toilets are still left like that,” Marlon Cervelo Trujillo told his wife in a recorded phone conversation, according to public radio station WLRN.“We’re either going to kill ourselves, or we’re going to die from some illness.Because [the guards] don’t care about anything in there,” he added.The miserable conditions inside the detention facility are also apparently well known to staff members, with reports of a prison officer greeting a newly arrived group of 50 detainees with “welcome to hell” before they were led into a small holding cell.A Human Rights Watch report described incidents of “extreme overcrowding, unsanitary conditions and abusive treatment” inside FDC Miami’s walls, as well as broken toilets, verbal harassment and “acts of humiliation including cavity searches,” the outlet writes.The Tate brothers are being kept in a cordoned-off section of the facility called the special housing unit, separate from the general population, but they, too, have complained about the conditions.Younger brother Tristan Tate whined in a hand-scrawled note shared by their lawyer on X last month about the number of snacks they’ve received from the jailhouse commissary.“I am hungry,” Tristan wrote, alleging that he had lost 13 pounds and his brother Andrew had lost 8.The brothers have been s...
