Pretty Lights Visual Artist, Anti-Alias, Announces Departure From the Project

Anti-Alias, the visual artist and live programmer who helped shape the audiovisual world of Pretty Lights’ return to the stage, has announced his departure from the project after four years.The virtuosic VJ, whose real name is Jack Hurley, shared a statement on Facebook announcing he was moving on from Pretty Lights after participating in roughly 50 shows and more than 100 sets.

He described the period as a formative chapter marked by experimentation and moments of creative growth that he called “nothing short of magic.” Hurley joined the Pretty Lights live project during its resurgence in the early 2020s.Led by Derek Vincent Smith, the storied livetronica act returned to touring in 2023 after a nearly five-year absence.

Working as a multimedia creative and real-time visual artist, Hurley played a vital role in the Pretty Lights crew, helping develop the trippy, immersive visual environments that accompanied Smith’s beloved electronic music.“It’s been a wild ride filled with excitement, growth, patience, innovation, and at times – nothing short of magic,” Hurley wrote.

“I’m deeply grateful for my time on this team, and for the crew that I have grown to hold as such close friends and family.A heartfelt thank you to all the friends and fans who have traveled all around this country to come out, support, and experience with me.
