31 and grabbed a shopping cart that held a single black metallic safe with a key lock, according to a complaint filed in Bronx Criminal Court. The safe held about $9,500 cash, $38,500 in gold jewelry, the victim’s passport, the title to his cars, his US permanent residency card and his social security card, the court doc said.Later that day, Triunfel went back to the Soundview apartment and damaged the video surveillance system that captured his alleged crime, prosecutors charged. One day before the burglary, Triunfel allegedly used his NYPD-issued cell phone to run a search of the victim’s license plate, according to the DA’s office. Then on Sept.3 and 7, he allegedly used the department’s database to look up the report on the heist, prosecutors said. On Monday, he searched the database again for his own name, according to the complaint. He was arrested that same night and charged with burglary, grand larceny, tampering with physical evidence and computer trespass, police said. Triunfel – who joined the NYPD in May of 2024 and was assigned to the 28th Precinct in Central Harlem – was released on his own recognizance during his Tuesday night arraignment and ordered to surrender his passport. He has since been suspended without pay from the NYPD, the department said. His attorney did not immediately return a call for comment. ...
