Listen to Daft Punk's Classic 'Veridis Quo' Reimagined by a Medieval Bard

Would Daft Punk have been celebrated in the Middle Ages, or would their mastery of music deem them wizards that needed to be exiled from the kingdom? Courseval is a French “bardcore” band that recreates modern day hits in the style of medieval times.Since starting their YouTube channel a year ago, they’ve taken on hits like Chappell Roan’s ‘Pink Pony Club,’ Gloria Gaynor’s ‘I Will Survive,’ Harry Styles’ ‘As It Was’ and even Rihanna’s ‘Umbrella.’ Seeing as they are a French group, it made perfect sense to cover one of their country’s most influential acts for one of their latest releases.

Out now is Courseval’s cover of Daft Punk’s single ‘Veridis Quo’ from the duo’s legendary 2001 album Discovery.While the band’s recent pop covers were impressive enough, taking purely electronic music back in time 1,000 years is even more of an accomplishment.

Opting for a track filled with more woodwind, the group replaces the danceable beat of ‘Veridis Quo’ with flowing, organic arrangements featuring a lute.The original is undoubtedly one of the best Daft Punk tracks to go bardcore since it already features darkened production and keys that feel like they’re being played from a haunted organ.

Courseval filmed a performance of the cover at the Château de Martinvast, a historic estate and public garden located in the Cotentin region of Normandy, France.You can watch the video below....
