Texas Longhorns co-defensive coordinator Johnny Nansen arrested for DWI

Johnny Nansen, the co-defensive coordinator on Steve Sarkisian’s Texas Longhorns staff, was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly drinking and driving.The 52-year-old coach was involved in a three-car crash on an Austin, Texas roadway at around 8:55 p.m.and displayed signs of intoxication while at the scene, according to the Austin Police Department.Cops put Nansen through field sobriety tests during an ensuing investigation and the APD said in a statement on Thursday he showed “multiple clues of impairment.”“Nansen was subsequently arrested for DWI, a Class B misdemeanor,” the APD said.Nansen spent the night in jail before he was released from custody Thursday morning.Sarkisian addressed the incident with reporters during his media availability on Thursday, calling it “an unfortunate situation.”Nansen did not attend the team’s Thursday practice and his status for the Longhorns’ weekend game against UTSA has not yet been decided.“We obviously are aware of the situation,” Sarkisian said.
