Ravers Now Have an App for Detecting Meta Smart Glasses in a Crowd

Nothing says 2026 quite like needing an app to tell you whether the stranger next to you is secretly filming your dance moves.Meta’s smart glasses have become the thing nobody asked for on the dancefloor, and now there’s an app built specifically to spot them.

Launched on the App Store last month, Zuckoff is a not-so-subtle mashup of “Zuckerberg” and “eff off,” aimed squarely at the Meta founder’s controversial smart glasses.Open the app and its main screen gives you an estimate of how close a pair might be.

It also offers a Pro subscription that sends alerts even when it’s not open.“We as a society have the right to at least know that someone is recording,” the app’s creator, Pawel Szydlowski, told Business Insider.

Szydlowski built Zuckoff’s detection system by buying several smart glasses models himself and studying the Bluetooth signals each one broadcasts, some of which include universally unique identifiers or even services explicitly labeled ‘Meta’ or ‘Ray Bans.’ The app then cross-references a device’s UUID and manufacturer identifier against that catalog of known fingerprints to determine whether it matches a real pair of smart glasses.“If the unique identifier matches, and also if the manufacturer identifier matches, then we have like an ultimate combo there,” Szydlowski said.
