SNL UK viciously lambasted Ed Sheeran fans in the wake of a concert controversy that saw opening act Macklemore booted from his tour for criticizing Israel on stage.The “Shape of You” singer’s “Loop Tour” has been mired in controversy since Macklemore sparked outrage for accusing Israel of “genocide” on stage — but writer and comedian Ania Magliano refocused the backlash on Sheeran’s music instead.“This week the Israel-Palestine conflict just got serious,” Magliano said during the “Weekend Update” segment.“That’s right — Ed Sheeran’s US tour is under threat.“Will Sheeran have to cancel the tour?” Magliano said.

“There’s a very real risk that he won’t.”She added that the crisis is the worst thing to happen to Sheeran fans “since their head injury.”Macklemore, referred to by SNL UK as the “good guy with bad music,” had infamously led chants of “Free Palestine” on stage.This caught the attention of billionaire and owner of Gillette Stadium and New England Patriots, Robert Kraft, who then barred the “Thrift Shop” rapper from performing in his venue.SNL UK also took jabs at Kraft, referring to him as a “wealthy corpse-maxxer.”Comedian Paddy Young brought up Kraft’s “checkered past” including his alleged ties to Epstein and prostitution solicitation charges from 2019.“He appointed one of Jeffery Epstein’s lawyers to his legal team,” Young said.“But, not wanting to be associated with the evil dead guy, Epstein had himself killed.”Young then presented a very unflattering photo of Sheeran looking cross-eyed, giving him credit for “looking at both sides of the issue.”...
