Jim Harbaugh hits brutal career first with embarrassing Chargers loss to Raiders

Jim Harbaugh was hoping for a better start to his Los Angeles Chargers tenure.Los Angeles just suffered an embarrassing 26-14 defeat to the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, one week after they lost to the Arizona Cardinals by the exact same score.This created unfortunate history for Harbaugh.According to the CBS Sports broadcast, this is the first time Harbaugh has started a season 0-2 in his head coaching career, both collegiate and professional.The 62-year-old Harbaugh has been a head coach for 20 seasons.

Thirteen of those have been in college while the other seven have been in the NFL.And he has never started a campaign this poorly.It would be one thing if the Chargers came up short against two of the league’s elite teams.

Instead, they’ve lost to the Raiders and the Cardinals, who experts predicted to be among the NFL’s worst teams this season.These games haven’t been that close, either.Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert has been mediocre at best.

The offense under new coordinator Mike McDaniel looks confused, and the defense hasn’t done enough to keep games competitive.The Chargers have an absolutely brutal schedule over the next two months, as their next seven games are against teams who are expected to make the playoffs.So, this already historically bad start for Harbaugh could get a lot worse.Historically, teams that begin its NFL season 0-2 only reach the playoffs 15% of the time.

So, Harbaugh has plenty of work to do....
