California’s next big surf spot could be hundreds of miles from the ocean.Plans for a sprawling surf resort in Placer County have cleared a major hurdle, with county planners approving a 25-acre destination that will bring a giant surf lagoon, wave pool, hotel, skate park and more to the Sacramento-area suburbs.The Alchemy Surf Resort, proposed by Inland Surf Company, is planned for the massive Placer One development in west Placer County, transforming a vacant field into what developers envision as an action-sports and hospitality destination.The biggest news, opinion and culture shaping California right now.
