Jets finally answer kicking question with two roster decisions

By NFL rule, a player can be elevated from the practice squad a maximum of three times per season before a team must either sign him to the active 53-man roster or expose him to waivers. Sanders’ elevation for Sunday’s game in Detroit was his third, which exhausted his maximum allotment of practice squad elevations.Sanders failed to make the initial 53-man roster after a shaky preseason, leading the Jets to sign Grupe the week before the season opener.Sanders was selected to play the opener and hasn’t relinquished the job since.In other roster moves Tuesday, the Jets waived cornerback Jordan Clark, though he could return on the practice squad if he clears waivers.

They also signed offensive linemen Nick Dawkins and Jimmy Morrissey to the practice squad.Both of those players play guard and center.Those moves were necessitated when starting left guard Dylan Parham suffered a left knee injury in the Lions game Sunday.Jordan Meredith replaced Parham in the game and appeared to be the culprit on the missed block that allowed Detroit safety Chuck Clark to sack quarterback Geno Smith and force the fumble that sealed the game for the Lions in the final seconds. ...
