7Up recalled after thousands of cans found packed with unexpected ingredient

Some soda drinkers may have gotten an unwanted sugar high.Over 77,700 cans of 7Up — labeled Zero Sugar — were voluntarily recalled after finding it was found to contain the sweet ingredient. The voluntary recall was initiated by Utah-based Admiral Beverage Corporation — an independent beverage distributor — back in Aug.However, just days ago on Sept.
29, FDA categorized the recall as a Class II event — which means the probability for serious adverse health consequences from the soda is “mid-level.”Sugar-free soda drinkers should watch for cans of the 7Up Tropical — they will be labeled Zero Sugar but do have full sugar soda packed inside, according to the FDA.The impacted items are 12-ounce cans that come in 12-pack cases where cans of the sugary substance were distributed in Utah. They can be identified by its UPC code 0 78000 03798 2 with the Lot Code/Batch Code: UT06176.The sodas have a shelf life into 2027 according to a notice from the Food and Drug Administration.
The recall states that 3,240 cases — which hold 77,760 cans — were recalled with a best-by date of March 17, 2027. Keurig Dr Pepper — the parent company of the 7Up brand — told USA TODAY that the bottler is conducting the recall “out of an abundance of caution.”“The safety and quality of our products is our top priority. In line with that commitment, one of our independent bottlers has conducted a voluntary recall in Utah of certain cases of 7UP Tropical Regular Sugar 12-packs,” the brand said. “While the cases were labeled correctly, some of them may contain individual cans mislabeled as 7UP Tropical Zero Sugar,” the company added. While the FDA has not officially offered instructions for consumers who have the recalled items, it’s typically recommended that the products should be disposed of as needed.
Shoppers may also be able to return the soda cans for a full refund — as that is generally honored during recalls.Just be sure to check with your local store....
