Palm Valley School has a 74-year history.Founded in 1952, PVS had been operating at its Rancho Mirage location since 1992.

It was the only private, co-educational, non-religious college-preparatory day school in the Coachella Valley, according to the school’s website, which remains online despite its closed doors.The school’s listing advertises 53 classrooms, a full gymnasium, a science lab, and an outdoor amphitheater.Parents and staff were devastated by the school’s abrupt closure after being given false hope that it would remain open.The school’s community was first alerted to their financial troubles in April, when the school school revealed to parents that they were exploring a potential partnership or merger with an unknown international educational organization, according to the Coachella Valley Independent.
