Set us as preferred Kacey Musgraves is taking another trip to “Uncertain, TX” — this time with a little bit of Tejano flair courtesy of a legendary South Texas band.On Tuesday, Musgraves released a Spanish version of her critically acclaimed track featuring Tejano group Intocable — a song she originally recorded with country star Willie Nelson, which debuted at No.50 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs after the May 1 release of her seventh studio album, “Middle of Nowhere.”“Having a song with the legends of Intocable is such a thrill for me,” said Musgraves in a press release on Tuesday.
“As a Texan, I am proud of the cultural melting pot that makes our state so great and this collaboration is such a fun example of that.”According to Intocable lead singer and accordionist Ricardo “Ricky” Muñoz, who spoke with The Times via Zoom, Musgraves had first thought of including the great conjunto accordionist Flaco Jiménez, who passed away in August 2025, to join in on the original track with Nelson, a fact that the country gal herself confirmed on the Zane Lowe interview series on Apple Music in May.“Flaco Jiménez’s son told me that Kacey wanted to do an all-Texas thing where Willie Nelson was in the song and Kacey also invited Flaco to play accordion,” said Muñoz, who heard the original demo.“I believe at the time, Flaco was not good, health-wise, so he wasn’t able to do it.”Muñoz, who has always been a fan of the “Rainbow” singer, said the song was “orbiting” around him.
Three weeks ago, he received a call from Musgraves’ team to help with the Spanish version.“I was very conservative on the accordion part.I just played little parts here and there,” said Muñoz.
