Bjrk Announces New Orchestral Live Album

Björk has announced the worldwide release of Björk Orkestral With the Hamrahlíð Choir, a live album of performances at Reykjavík venue Harpa Hall in 2021.First released in May as an exclusive at the National Gallery of Iceland, the album is coming to physical formats on November 27, via One Little Independent.

The record primarily collects new arrangements of music from Björk’s 2004 album Medúlla, fine-tuned in extensive rehearsals made possible amid the empty calendars of the COVID-19 era.“I could tweak older songs that i felt i hadn’t acquired experience yet how to perform live,” Björk said in a press release. She added:i am so happy and proud of this concert ..

we all put enormous love , energy and time into it .i have learned slowly through the years , about the juxtaposition of voices and the electronic ...

for me it is a philosophical matter , how nature and technology can coexist amicably .i got an opportunity to learn how to get this balance just right , through extensive rehearsals in the space we got in covid .

it is often easier for me to do this on the recordings , but here we did it physically live .and i could tweak older songs that i felt i hadn’t acquired experience yet how to perform live .Björk went on to thank her musical director Bergur Þórisson and Þorgerður Ingólfsdóttir, founder of the 50-person Hamrahlíð Choir.

Proceeds from the original concerts supported Kvennaathvarfið, a women’s shelter in Reykjavík.The album is coming to LP, CD, Blu-ray, and DVD, with no digital release set.Revisit the 2022 profile Björk: Mother, Daughter, Force of Nature.Björk Orkestral with the Hamrahlíð Choir$36.99 at Rough TradeBjörk Orkestral With the Hamrahlíð Choir:01 Show Me Forgiveness02 Pleasure Is All Mine03 Hidden Place04 Cosmogony05 Sonnets / Unrealities XI06 Unravel07 Vertebræ by Vertebræ08 Who Is It09 Mouth’s Cradle10 Where Is the Line11 New World...
