Ashton Jeanty injury takes surprising turn ahead of Raiders-Patriots game

Ashton Jeanty’s road back to full strength took an uncertain turn Thursday, when the Raiders running back was listed as a limited practice participant with foot and ankle injuries.Jeanty appeared on Wednesday’s injury report but participated fully, making Thursday’s reduced workload a development worth monitoring as the 3-1 Raiders prepare to visit the Patriots on Sunday. What remains unclear is whether the change reflects increased discomfort, a setback or simply a decision to manage his workload ahead of the game. The participation designation alone does not establish that either injury has worsened. But it adds another question to a situation the Raiders have been navigating since before the season began.Jeanty suffered the ankle injury in the weeks leading up to the opener and has continued playing through signs of discomfort.

The speedy back from Arkansas has been a pleasant surprise this year and has been a formidable offset to Jeanty as the club’s RB2.The question is, can Washington go from a being limited contributor to a leading man?The Raiders still have a few days to even think about that, though.A reduction from full to limited participation could mean the Raiders are taking a cautious approach with a player who has been absorbing contact while recovering. It coul...
