Disneyland destroys 71-year-old piece of park history

Disneyland has demolished another piece of its history as the “Happiest Place on Earth” plows ahead with a massive expansion. The final two ticket booths on the eastern side of the Southern California theme park’s main entrance in Anaheim have been bulldozed, wiping out structures that date back 71 years.Aerial images captured from the Disneyland monorail and shared on social media Tuesday showed the destruction behind construction walls in the Esplanade area. The once-familiar booths have been reduced to piles of wood and concrete, Inside the Magic reported.Crews demolished four other ticket booths earlier this year between Disneyland and Disney California Adventure Park, also on the eastern side of the entrance.
That left just two — and now those are gone, too.Guests who still prefer buying their tickets in person rather than online will have two remaining booths on the western side of the Esplanade. The demolition comes as Disney moves forward with a sweeping overhaul of its resort, including a planned Porto’s Bakery location in the Downtown Disney District, WDW News Today reported. The beloved Los Angeles-area bakery was founded by Cuban immigrants who opened their first shop in Echo Park in the 1970s.The business has since grown to six locations, with a seventh planned at Disneyland.
