Envision Festival's Future Is "Unknown" After 16 Years in Costa Rica
Envision, the weeklong electronic music festival and wellness gathering in Costa Rica, told its community in a letter on Wednesday that its future is “unknown” after 16 years. The announcement follows Envision’s return to the village of Uvita from February 23 to March 2, 2026, after organizers postponed the event’s 2025 edition.
The cost of developing the fest has become unsustainable, its organizers said.“We have reached the moment when honesty asks us to acknowledge what love and determination alone cannot make possible,” the festival team shared in a statement.
“With heavy hearts, we share that Envision’s future is unknown.” That strain had been building for years. In a statement ahead of the 2026 edition, Envision said it had been unprofitable for many years, with losses exceeding profits by millions of dollars, and that it planned to review its offering and prices for 2027 and beyond.
“While we do not see a path to a 2027 festival, we remain open to how Envision’s mission may evolve through new collaborations, projects, and forms of stewardship,” the team wrote. On its website, Envision said it is open to new investment, strategic partnerships and new models of ownership, and that it is seeking conversations with people who have the experience and resources to carry its mission forward.
Envision launched in 2011 on Costa Rica’s Pacific coast and pairs electronic music with yoga, workshops and sustainability programming. The letter notes that its grounds, a former cattle pasture, now hold regenerated land planted with cacao, ylang-ylang, almond and fruit trees.
