Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts will miss game vs. Panthers with blood clot

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts will miss the team’s Week 6 game against the Carolina Panthers with a blood clot in his calf, the team announced Thursday.Hurts first visited the training room on Oct.8 for treatment on his calf the week following a loss against the Los Angeles Rams, according to an Eagles’ statement.

On Oct.10, the team performed an ultrasound on Hurts “out of an abundance of caution” after Philadelphia’s flight to London for its Week 6 game, when a superficial blood clot was discovered.

Hurts still played every snap in the Eagles’ 19-17 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Oct.11, completing 21 of 40 passes for 220 yards.

He had his fewest rushing attempts of the season in the game, running only twice for two yards.“Our medical staff and doctors in London reviewed the results and concluded that activity and mobility were important and that [Hurts] could safely play,” the statement read, adding that the quarterback “played without limitation.” Hurts received treatment on his calf on Monday and Tuesday, according to the team, and participated fully in practice Wednesday.A follow-up ultrasound Wednesday night revealed Hurts had a small blood clot, however.“[Hurts] will be out for Sunday’s game vs.

the Panthers as we determine the appropriate course of treatment. His health and safety are our highest priority,” the statement read.
