Westend and Modapit Turn New Single Into Playable Arcade Game

Westend and Modapit are giving fans a new way to play their music, pairing their latest track ‘Technophobic’ with the release of an interactive browser game that turns a sabotaged warehouse party into a rescue mission.Players choose either artist and set out to reach the mainstage after a villain called the ‘Technophobe’ cuts the power and locks their back-to-back partner in a flight case.

Armed with USB drives they can fire as projectiles, they must navigate their way toward bringing the drop back. The concept suits a song rooted in the outsized personality of mid-2000s electro house.

Drawing from French touch and Daft Punk-inspired production, ‘Technophobic’ leans into a synth-driven, maximalist sensibility, offering a counterpoint to the minimalist approach prevalent in today’s club music. That direction became central to the collaboration.

Speaking to Las Vegas Weekly, Westend, a member of the EDM.com Class of 2023, explained that Modapit originally submitted the demo to his Trace Amounts label. He wanted to sign it, but also heard an opportunity to reshape the track around the synth line the interviewer compared to Daft Punk’s ‘Robot Rock.’ “I felt like that needed to be more upfront,” Westend said.
