49ers legendary receiver throws shade at Mike Evans: Really average

Terrell Owens doesn’t appear impressed with San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Mike Evans. At least, Owens doesn’t think Evans is a great route runner or speedster.
He said as much during an episode of his “Get TO The Point Podcast” on Thursday.“We were watching the game.Mike was playing, Mike Evans, and I was like, ‘Look at his routes.’ I’m like, ‘I can do that.
It’s not like he’s blazing speed,'” Owens, who played the first eight seasons of his NFL career with the 49ers, said.“[Evans] just knows how to run routes, knows where to go, and then the quarterback can save you,” he continued.“Like, he was just catching some really average plays.”Former Los Angeles Rams running back Todd Gurley imitated a broadcaster by saying, “’Oh, he’s killing it!’ But he ran straight!”“Yeah.
But he was putting up numbers though… He was balling,” Owens responded.Owens’ podcast co-host, Chris Spencer, then asked Owens whether he “could do that”, seemingly as a way of questioning whether Evans’ performance has made Owens, who is 52 years old and last played in the NFL during the 2010 season, believe he could still play in the league.“Bro, absolutely,” Owens said.
Evans has been pretty impressive this season, as shown by his 27 receptions, 420 receiving yards, and three receiving touchdowns.Evans is the only player in NFL history to start his career with 11 straight 1,000-yard receiving seasons. Not even fellow 49er Jerry Rice achieved that feat.
But Owens clearly has higher expectations for a receiver’s physical attributes....
