Travis Kelce puzzled by Chiefs mysteriously benching veteran lineman

After a second straight loss on Sunday, questions swirled around the Chiefs’ decision to bench starting left guard Kingsley Suamataia for the second time this season.Travis Kelce made his feelings known about the situation.“He’s family.Everyone has their own road,” Kelce said postgame.
“We love Kingsley, we think he’s a hell of a player. At this time, I’m not even sure what the scenario is.
I’m rolling with whoever we’ve got in that game.I’m sure Kingsley is drooling, trying to get back out there.”It’s the second time head coach Andy Reid has benched his starting left guard for undisclosed reasons in the past four games.
Suamataia has not been mentioned on the injury report in either of the two games he was benched in.“Yeah, that’s just between Kingsley and I, so,” Reid said when asked about the situation, a similar answer to the one he gave when Suamataia was first benched in Week 4.In both instances, Suamataia was benched in favor of veteran backup Mike Caliendo, who was quietly named the starter the day before the Week 4 matchup, per ESPN’s Nate Taylor. At the end of Sunday’s loss, Caliendo couldn’t stop Denver defensive tackle Malcolm Roach, who sacked Patrick Mahomes to win the game for the Broncos. The win also gave the 6-2 Broncos the edge in the AFC West standings, pushing 5-2 Kansas City out of their top spot for the time being.Kansas City has also had a frustrating ongoing situation involving their left tackle Josh Simmons, who has been out for the entire season for a variety of reasons.
Reports have trickled out that Reid and Mahomes kicked him out of a team meeting for having his feet up despite being on injured reserve with a herniated disk. The Chiefs will look to right the ship after two straight losses when they host the 2-6 Jets at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday....
