Cops offer $10K reward in baffling case of stabbed NYC jogger

The NYPD is offering $10,000 for information leading to an arrest in the baffling savage stabbing of a female Brooklyn jogger last week.Tragic 28-year-old bank teller victim Katie Suarez had been declared brain dead and remains on life support at NYU Langone Hospital after being heinously attacked on a jogging path around the Shore Parkway Greenway promenade in Gravesend on Friday evening.Suarez had just left her job at the TD Bank in Caesar’s Bay Shopping Center in Gravesend and met up with her mother before going for a run, law-enforcement sources have said. The victim had been on the phone with her father minutes before she was assaulted, sources said. She was jogging about a half-mile to then meet up with him and her mom when she was stabbed twice in the neck, once on each side, by the unknown assailant on Bay 17th Street and Shore Parkway in Bath Beach just after 8 p.m., sources said. When Suarez failed to rendezvous with her parents as planned, her mom and dad split up to look for her, and her father ended up stumbling onto the horrifying blood-soaked stabbing scene, according to sources.Police have yet to come up with a motive in the case, sources said — ruling out robbery because she was found still with her jewelry and pink cell phone on her, as well as sex assault, with investigators not finding she had been sexually attacked.

There also is no indication this was anything but random, sources said.Police scoured the area all weekend, deploying K-9 units, scuba teams and drones, to look for any leads in the case.Investigators are also looking to talk to anyone who may have seen Suarez jogging along the Belt Parkway between about 7:56 and 8:12 p.m. The new reward money in the case was being offered by Crime Stoppers, an NYPD program that offers cash to anonymous tipsters that help solve high-profile violent cases.Anyone with information is asked to call 1-800-577-TIPS....
