ZHU Announces Warehouse-Style Music Festival in U.S. Capital

ZHU is taking the warehouse-party spirit of his latest album, BLACK MIDAS, to the nation’s capital for a new two-day festival, BLACKLIZT.DC.The event is scheduled for December 18-19 at Berhta, where more than 10 acts will perform across three stages.
DC is only the first stop for the project, which ZHU intends to organize once a year in a different city or country, according to a press release. That means the December weekend will serve as the template for later editions.
Naturally, the enigmatic producer has asked attendees to dress in black.ZHU said the festival grew out of the ideas behind his latest record, which was meant to put the music at the center and recall the underground warehouse parties that shaped electronic music culture in its early years.
Speaking with EDM.com for in an intimate interview after BLACK MIDAS dropped, he opened up about the album’s creative direction and teased an expansion of its concept.“My music came from a bedroom producer perspective, as opposed to a DJ… energy-centric perspective, and it took me time to develop that,” ZHU told us at the time.
“Now all I really need to show up with is decks and my voice. No production, no lights.
Just the main ingredients.” Joining the chart-topping artist on the inaugural lineup for BLACKLIZT.DC are HNTR, Dansyn, Fahlberg, TOBEHONEST and Joezi, among others.ZHU chose each act because of a personal history with him, whether from sharing a bill, collaborating in the studio or both, per the release.
Tickets go on sale this Thursday, November 5 at 10 am ET here. You can listen to BLACK MIDAS below.
