TV host who proposed to Tom Brady arrested in $160 million fraud scheme after five years on the run
Inés Gómez Mont, who previously made headlines for proposing to Tom Brady, was arrested and detained by ICE in Miami on Friday, according to The Sun.The Mexican TV presenter of “TV Azteca” and “Televisa” is wanted in Mexico regarding a $160 million fraud scheme involving herself and her lawyer husband Víctor Manuel Álvarez Puga.The couple is accused to have used shell companies, false invoices and contracts to bring in the money from Mexico’s Interior Ministry and launder it.Investigators allege the two are part of a network led by Álvarez Puga, also known as the “King of the Invoice Mills.” He has been linked to a network of contacts including politicians, government officials, lawyers, business people and celebrities.
The couple reportedly fled Mexico in 2021 after arrest warrants were issued against them over the alleged scandal.It came years before ICE detained Puga in Miami in September 2025 regarding immigration irregularities.He was eventually released on bond and his current stats is unknown.Gómez Mont was photographed as she was escorted by police in handcuffs.
She awaits any formal extradition process to Mexico while in US immigration custody.The 43-year-old has previously denied any wrongdoing by herself and her husband.“Indeed, according to the press, the authorities accuse me of allegedly receiving money from two public contracts (which amount to 3 billion pesos) and of belonging to organized crime.
