Why Lindsey Vonn is keeping her new relationship mostly secret

Lindsey Vonn doesn’t want to repeat her past when it comes to her personal life.The 42-year-old U.S.

skiing star explained that she’s trying not to overshare while putting the relationship with her “amazing boyfriend,” Matthieu Bailet, in the public eye.“I think in my past it’s kind of been mixed of keeping things private and maybe oversharing,” Vonn told People while at the 2026 CFDA Fashion Awards Monday, which took place at the American Museum of Natural History in New York.

“I’m trying to strike a nice balance.”Vonn gushed that she’s “really happy” with the 30-year-old fellow alpine ski racer.“He’s awesome and I wanted to share that.

People know now I’m dating someone and I’m happy, but I’m not going to share too much moving forward,” she said.The pair attended the Gucci show during the Milan Fashion Week last month, where they posed for photos together.Vonn hard-launched the relationship in a September Instagram post, which included PDA snapshots of the pair over the summer while she was rehabbing her leg from injuries she sustained at the 2026 Olympics.

Vonn and Bailet, who specializes in downhill and super-G events, first sparked romance rumors when they were spotted together in New York City in May.They were seen shopping together in Soho and posing backstage at “The Outsiders” musical on May 10.This is Vonn’s first public relationship since her split with business executive Diego Osorio in 2025 after four years together.The five-time Olympian was previously engaged to former NHL All-Star P.K.Subban.
