They’re going to fight for their right not to have a party.With the summer soiree season fast approaching, Airbnb is implementing “anti-party” technology that mitigates the chances of “disruptive” crashers turning their rental units into animal houses.“Our anti-party technology is designed to help identify and prevent certain attempts to book one-to-two-night stays in entire home listings that could be higher risk for a disruptive party,” the booking firm declared in a statement.This prophylactic policy will be rolled out during the upcoming Memorial Day and Fourth of July weekends, marking the fourth consecutive year that the California-based company has instated these anti-shindig safeguards.Airbnb’s aim is to help protect both hosts and neighbors from soiree-related shenanigans, including excessive noise, overcrowding, trash, smoking and vandalism.They also wanted to reduce the number of listings that employ “party-friendly” or “event-friendly” terminology. To lessen the chances of disruptive parties, which are banned on the platform, the anti-party tech examines and assesses various factors ranging from the listing type to the length of stay and distance from the booker’s location.They then determine whether or not the guests should be blocked based on these criteria.
