Chuck Schumer is a disgrace (“Schumer adrift on DOGE cuts,” May 19).Making political points on a tragedy that cost the lives of two cadets is beyond belief.I served in the US Coast Guard for four years, and we would not have been involved with the ship before the accident.Do the nation a favor, Schumer, and stop making comments on things you know nothing about.Bruce CollinsMiddletown, NJWhen the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore collapsed after a cargo ship collided into it, no one blamed then-President Joe Biden or anyone else in the government.The ship lost power and crashed.
