Two New Jersey cops rescued an impaired driver from a car stopped in the middle of train tracks just moments before it was hit, according to authorities and dramatic video.Police officers Devin Hinchcliffe and John Ward arrived at a vehicle stopped on train tracks just after midnight last Monday, according to the Piscataway Township Police Department.The driver, an unidentified man who was “impaired” and unable to exit their car, was dragged out by Hinchliffe and Ward as the crossing gates were coming down, dashcam footage provided by the department showed.Mere seconds later, the high-speed train plowed down the tracks and hit the car, video provided by the department showed.
“Recognizing the imminent danger posed by an approaching train, the officers swiftly and safely removed the driver just seconds before impact,” the department wrote in the statement“Their quick action prevented a potential tragedy, and we commend Officer Hinchcliffe and Officer Ward for their prompt and effective response.”It is not yet known if the driver, whose name has not been released, will face charges, according to WPVI....
