Rockies sued for being so awful they caused injuries

The Colorado Rockies aren’t just hearing it from their fans because of their historically poor play on the field, but also because their awfulness allegedly caused serious injuries in the stands.The team is being sued by Timothy Roeckel, who was hit in the face by a foul ball while attending a Rockies game at Coors Field nearly two years ago, according to CBS News Colorado.Roeckel claims he was at the game in a luxury suite in July 2023 and from his seat, he was unable to see the ball coming in his direction.According to his lawsuit, Roeckel was struck in the right eye and face and suffered “catastrophic and permanent injuries.”It also claims the Rockies did not extend the stadium’s protective netting far enough, which is required at every major league ballpark, and also alleges the design of the luxury boxes also played a role in the incident, with certain architectural elements at play.That allegedly includes an overhang that limits the ability of people to see objects coming from the field.To top it off, the lawsuit includes a complaint that the organization’s “longstanding poor performance on the field [has] contributed to a game-day environment in which spectators, particularly those in luxury suites, are less engaged with the action on the field.”That point certainly can’t be argued, since the Rockies haven’t had a winning season since 2018.They’ve lost more than 100 games in each of the last two seasons and despite their win over the Yankees in Colorado on Friday night, are on pace to shatter the Chicago White Sox MLB record of 121 losses, set just last year.The previous mark of 120 losses was set by the expansion 1962 Mets....
