This was one heavyweight tidal fight.A “very distressed” kangaroo “as big as a car” attempted to drown an Australian man in floodwaters in the aftermath of a devastating storm Friday morning, according to reports.The “really muscly” male roo went toe-to-toe with an innocent passerby – and nearly took the man out before he was distracted by something and pulled on the side of a road in Port Macquarie.“I just remember being under water and kicking and screaming and carrying on,” the victim, Don James, told Australian news network ABC.The showdown began when James was walking on the side of the road with the kangaroo nearby.He initially saw a driver, Kristy Lee, traveling in a car with her husband and warned them about the giant animal coming up after it was likely trapped by deadly and destructive flooding in the New South Wales area, the BBC reported.The kangaroo made a move toward Lee’s vehicle, but then spotted James walking nearby and went after him.“They literally got into a boxing match,” witness Kristy Lee described to the BBC.

“I’m looking in the rear-view mirror and they are throwing punches.”As James and the roo battled, the man tripped and fell into a spot of floodwater that gathered off the road.The kangaroo “was holding him down” and “tried to drown the man,” Lee said.The kangaroo suddenly stopped the scuffle – apparently spooked by something – and ran off, according to local reports.“Pretty traumatic for a while there,” James told ABC.A wildlife rescue expert, Kym Kilpatrick, told the outlet animals can lash out during flooding because they are under distress....
