NBA insider: This offseason has most anticipation and craziest outlook ever

The NBA is still in the thick of the conference finals right now, but an offseason full of insanity could be on the horizon.Coming off of a trade deadline in which the NBA saw perhaps the most shocking trade in league history with Luka Doncic shipped to the Lakers, ESPN insider Shams Charania thinks the chaos will continue.“This is the most, I think, anticipation team executives have had over an offseason,” Charania said on the “Pat McAfee Show” on Tuesday.“I think this offseason might be the most craziest ever.”The NBA is perhaps the most balanced it’s ever been, as whoever wins the Finals this season among the Thunder, Timberwolves, Knicks and Pacers will be the seventh different champion in seven years.“The parity of the league, it’s so thin right now,” Charania explained.“You can win a championship or you might be falling into the lottery.”The league is seemingly wide open for the taking.

Teams like the Pacers and Knicks are proving it, as neither were expected to make it out of the East and into the NBA Finals, yet here we are.With this much parity, many teams can all feel like they are just one piece away from competing for a championship — which is why this offseason could get hectic.The recent Giannis Antetokounmpo trade rumors have been well documented, as the Bucks have failed to put a contending roster around their superstar who led them to a championship just four years ago.The Rockets, Nets and Mavericks appear to be among the few teams who could have the assets to acquire such a superstar. Considering Antetokounmpo’s resume, and the players and picks he’d yield in a potential transaction, a trade of this magnitude would surely prove Charania’s point.It’s not just Antetokounmpo, though.Kevin Durant seems to be a shoo-in for a trade this summer with the Suns’ trainwreck of a season.Charania reported that Durant and the Spurs had mutual interest at the trade deadline and could revisit trade talks soon.The reigning NB...
