Aaron Jones lands on IR in latest Vikings injury crusher

The Vikings suffered another injury blow on Tuesday. Minnesota placed running back Aaron Jones on injured reserve with a hamstring injury, taking him out for at least four weeks, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.Jones, 30, suffered the injury during the Vikings’ 22-6 loss to the Falcons on Sunday night. Minnesota head coach Kevin O’Connell said earlier this week that Jones was “likely down” for next week’s game before the team opted to place him on IR. Jordan Mason is expected to slot in as Minnesota’s RB1 while Jones is out. With third-string ball carrier Ty Chandler also out with a hamstring injury, the Vikings are reportedly expected to sign Cam Akers, who has spent parts of the past two seasons with Minnesota, to their practice squad. The Jones news comes after the Vikings ruled out starting quarterback J.J.McCarthy for 2-4 weeks with a high ankle sprain. Carson Wentz will take over the starting quarterback role in McCarthy’s absence.
