Massive winds blow pedestrian into oncoming traffic in terrifying scene

Footage has captured the terrifying moment a woman was pushed into oncoming traffic by gale force winds in New Zealand.Dashcam footage, captured by passer-by Justin Ashworth yesterday morning, shows traffic lights and tree branches swaying heavily as the woman attempts to walk carefully towards the road.The pedestrian then appears to be thrust onto the Wellington intersection by a large gust as her bag and belongings take off into the distance.A grey Toyota Prius and a black VW Golf miraculously makes a quick stop in front of the woman as the scenes unfolded.The New Zealand MetService has placed a strong red warning in force for many parts of the country, as north-westerlies with damaging gusts of 87 mph lash the nation.MetService warned that there was a “severe threat to life from flying items and falling trees.”“Destructive winds will cause widespread damage including powerlines and roofs, dangerous driving conditions and significant disruption to transport and power supply,” they wrote online.Residents are advised to stay inside or seek sturdy shelter away from trees.They are also asked to avoid travel and to be ready for power and communication outages.In the west, 3-7 inches of rain has fallen in the last 24 hours, while a new warning has been put in place for a “more severe” weather system arriving on Thursday.Yesterday at around 9:20am local time, emergency services received reports of a man suffering critical injuries after being hit by a falling branch in Mount Victoria, Wellington.The man was taken to hospital but died a short time later.NZ Police have further reminded residents to “take care in the current weather conditions.”It comes as millions of Aussies to swelter through record-breaking heat in Queensland and New South Wales.The mercury has soared through the past three days, with temperatures in the outback Queensland town of Birdsville climbing to a searing 115 degrees on Tuesday – making it the hottest October on record.A heatwa...
