After Knicks hit Mamdani over logo use, they get Trump to pull his post too

The Knicks aren’t taking sides.After the Trump White House on Tuesday posted an image on X mocking newly elected New York City mayor Zohran Mamdani with a graphic that was supposed to resemble the Knicks logo, the team reached out and the White House voluntarily deleted the post, a source close to the team confirmed to The Post.The image had “Trump is your president” written over the Knicks logo.“The Knicks remain neutral on political matters,” a team spokesperson said in a statement.“We hope all our elected officials, whether current or recently elected, do a great job in office.”It comes soon after the Knicks sent a cease-and-desist to the Mamdani campaign for using their likeness without their permission as well.
In an ad during the Knicks season opener, the Mamdani campaign used an image that had “New York Zohran” written over the Knicks logo, giving the impression that the team endorsed him — which it did not.The Knicks reached out but Mamdani’s camp did not respond to their request to take the ad down, the source said, prompting them to send the cease-and-desist.The Mamdani campaign then subsequently took the ad down.The Knicks will always protect their intellectual property and remain apolitical, the source said.Front Office Sports was first to report the Knicks’ decision to reach out to the White House....
