Miss Universe exec Nawat Itsaragrisil dismissed from pageant after Miss Mexico confrontation

If the crown fits.Miss Universe executive Nawat Itsaragrisil has been dismissed from this year’s pageant following his shocking confrontation with Miss Mexico Fátima Bosch earlier this week.Raúl Rocha, the president of Miss Universe, announced the decision as well as several additional sanctions against Itsaragrisil, 60, in a subtitled video shared to social media.“I have restricted Nawat’s participation in the events that are part of the 74th Miss Universe competition, limiting it as much as possible or eliminating it entirely,” Rocha said in Spanish on the organization’s official Instagram page.Rocha went on to express his “great indignation towards Nawat” for the “public aggression he committed against Fátima Bosch” whom Itsaragrisil “humiliated, insulted, and showed lack of respect to.”“I will not allow the values of respect and dignity of women to be violated,” the Miss Universe president added.“Nawat, you need to stop.”The pageant’s sash presentation has since been postponed to “avoid any interaction” with Itsaragrisil.Rocha also urged Miss Universe Organization CEO Mario Bucaro to take over speaking on behalf of the pageant, and suggested legal action may be taken “as a result of the malicious acts committed by Nawat.”The 2025 Miss Universe pageant made headlines when Itsaragrisil, then still serving as executive director of the organization, berated Bosch during the annual sashing ceremony on Tuesday.Itsaragrisil called Mexico’s delegate out for not participating in a sponsorship shoot, and the entire exchange was caught on video and live-streamed on the Miss Universe Thailand Facebook page.“Mexico, where are you?” the Thai businessman asked before Bosch spoke up.
