Man living in home with daycare center is among dozens busted in Mass. child-porn sting

An 18-year-old man who lived with his parents in their home daycare center was among the more than 50 people arrested last week in a child-porn sting in Massachusetts, authorities said.Daniel Cruz was busted as part of Operation Firewall, a three-day sting developed by the state police’s Division of Investigative Services, which netted 56 busts of suspects ranging in age from 18 to 75.Troopers executed 34 search warrants and seized 229 devices in the crackdown.“These women and men did their jobs with excellence, with precision, and with professionalism and they delivered exactly what the public expects from us, which is strong police investigations conducted with integrity and a singular focus on protecting victims from further harm and, in this instance, our most vulnerable victims: our children,” Massachusetts State Police Supt.Col.
Geoffrey Noble said in a statement.Cruz, who along with many of his fellow arrestees was charged with possession of child pornography, lived in his family’s home, where they ran Yhandy’s Daycare, in Templeton, according to WFXT.The facility was licensed to provide care for up to 10 children, the outlet said, adding that a source familiar with the investigation insisted there was no known link between the children at the daycare center and Cruz’s arrest.The state Department of Early Education and Care said Cruz had been an “approved household member” according to their records.The daycare’s license is no longer active.Others netted in the sting were arrested for everything from alleged possession, production and sharing of child sexual abuse material to child enticement, failure to register and rape and assault and battery of a child.“The Massachusetts State Police are working hard every day to keep our communities safe, especially our children,” Massachusetts Gov.
