Slain gangster Mejid Hamzys secret texts show plot to kill rival, carve up another

An underworld heavyweight was plotting to kill one rival and have another’s chest “carved up” a year before he was assassinated outside his Sydney home, text messages reveal.Mejid Hamzy, the eldest brother in the notorious Hamzy crime family, was shot four times in front of his Condell Park house on October 19, 2020.Two gunmen were captured on CCTV ambushing Hamzy, 44, before fleeing through nearby streets in Sydney’s southwest.In the trial of a man police alleged was one of the assassins, who was found not guilty, messages uncovered on Hamzy’s encrypted AN0M phone were tendered as evidence.They reveal he promised $100,000 for someone to “knock” the major organised crime boss police believe was ultimately behind Hamzy’s death – allegations which were heard in court.“A fatwa has been passed on him from all the sheiks,” Hamzy wrote in September 2019.“His a f–ken khara (s–t).”Hamzy, the court heard, was also intent on seeing offshore gangster Bilal Haouchar “hurt very badly” according to the messages sent to a user dubbed JID.JID explained that Lebanon-based Haouchar, one of NSW’s most wanted men, was moving between locations but his “detective mate” was “on to it.”“My detective mate said he can bring him in, rip him a new arsehole, bash the living s–t out of him, put him in a parole system so he knows where he is at one stage,” JID said in a voice message in August 2019.“I’ve got the boys ready to go, everyone is ready to rip this motherf–ker apart … I can even carve your family name on his chest.” Morning Report delivers the latest news, videos, photos and more.Please provide a valid email.
