Craig Carton breaks silence on WFAN return

Craig Carton has broken his silence about his latest WFAN return.The longtime New York radio star sounded off on his latest big career move, which will bring him back to station in January for a third time to take over the afternoon drive-time slot.“Yes, what you’ve read is true.I am coming back — one more time — to WFAN,” Carton said in an appearance on his self-titled podcast on Thursday.Having first joined WFAN in 2007, Carton left the station 10 years later when he was arrested on fraud charges related to a ticket resale scam that he used to try to pay off his gambling debts.Carton got an early release from prison in June 2020, paving the way for his first return to WFAN on afternoon drive.In 2023, Carton once again left WFAN to focus full-time on his FS1 morning show, “The Carton Show,” which was later renamed “Breakfast Ball” and canceled in July of this year.Despite his venture into television and launching a podcast, “The Craig Carton Show,” the grind of talk radio is where Carton’s heart lies, he said.“I missed doing daily radio,” Carton said.

“I missed doing the one thing I know I’m really good at.”Now, Carton claims, this will be his last time bouncing around the industry.“My plan is to never leave WFAN again throughout my professional career,” he said.“WFAN has always been home to me … It means the world to me.”Chris McMonigle, WFAN’s current overnight host, will serve as Carton’s co-host.WFAN’s current midday show featuring Brandon Tierney and Sal Licata will be dissolved upon Carton’s return, something he touched on during his announcement.“I feel for those guys,” Carton said.
