Hidden Valley Ranch part of massive FDA salad dressing recall

It might be time to toss that Hidden Valley Ranch bottle on your fridge’s shelf.The popular salad dressing is just one of thousands that have been recalled across 27 states due to “foreign objects” being found in some of the batches.

Although the recall from Ventura Foods was originally put into place on Nov.11, it was then accelerated to “Class II” earlier this month, which means exposure or consumption of the product could lead to adverse effects.The Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) exposure report stated that 3,556 cases of salad dressing were confirmed to have “black plastic planting material” in the dressing’s granulated onion.

Recalled brands named in the FDA report include Italian Salad Dressing, Creamy Poblano Avocado Ranch Dressing and Dip, Ventura Caesar Dressing, Pepper Mill Regal Caesar Dressing, Pepper Mill Creamy Caesar Dressing, Caesar Dressing (Costco Service Deli), Caesar Dressing (Costco Food Court) and Hidden Valley Buttermilk Ranch.The Post reached out to Ventura Foods for comment.So far, the only known retailer that carried these recalled dressings is Costco and before you purge your fridge, the good news is that most of them were gallon-sized — an amount that your average person isn’t buying to store in their fridge.

However, the affected dressings were distributed to six other retailers across 42 locations in Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Carolina, North Dakota, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia, Washington and Wisconsin. A spokesperson for Hidden Valley Ranch reassured worried customers, telling NBC Chicago, “No Hidden Valley Ranch products sold in stores to consumers are included in the voluntary recall.”“A professional Hidden Valley Original Buttermilk Ranch Dressing & Dip (one-gallon size), intended solely for food service and...
