Exclusive | Special tribute to NYC featured on White House ornament for Americas 250th birthday

A touching tribute to New York City — and the nation — has made its way onto the White House Historical Association’s new special-edition ornament, an homage to America’s 250th birthday.The special ornament features six architectural treasures in the US to herald America’s upcoming major event — including the Statue of Liberty.With a brass base and 24-karat gold finish, the America250 icons ornament pays tribute to the White House, Liberty Bell, Statue of Liberty, Golden Gate Bridge, Gateway Arch and Mt.Rushmore.“Of course, with the Statue of Liberty — that was so many people’s introduction to this country in general for the people that came over and emigrated,” said Luci Shanahan, the chief retail officer at the White House Historical Association, to The Post.“What an incredibly emotional site that is,” she said.

“We didn’t want to miss the opportunity to find other ways to teach and to find other ways to share with such an important year.”Additionally, the group is rolling out its official commemorative ornament of America’s 250th anniversary, featuring the Declaration of Independence.Since 1981, the White House Historical Association has produced the official White House Christmas Ornament annually.Those ornaments are sold to raise funds for the association’s mission to promote the White House’s history and are used to adorn the executive mansion.The group’s mission came from former first lady Jacqueline Kennedy. The new America250 ornament is being released in addition to the group’s upcoming, official 2026 White House Christmas Ornament.“As we came into this year, which is a really momentous year celebrating America’s 250th anniversary, it’s really recognized clearly as a once-in-a-generation event,” Shanahan said.
