Long Island bandit rips dog away from girl, 15, during nighttime walk is quickly busted: cops

A Nassau County bandit ripped a dog away from a 15-year-old girl as she walked the pooch late Tuesday — hours after he was cut loose on an unrelated charge, cops and prosecutors said. The teen was taking her brown American Bully dog for a nighttime stroll on Colonial Road near Grenada Avenue in Roosevelt around 10:45 p.m.when Keame Rowser, 29 — who was sitting in the passenger seat of a Mercedes — started grilling her about her pet, according to a complaint filed in Nassau County Criminal Court.When the fearful teen called her dad for help answering Rowser’s questions, the menace grabbed the dog’s leash and tried to yank it away from her, according to the court doc.

The teen tried to wrestle her pet away from Rowser — until he overpowered her and detached the leash from the dog’s collar, the complaint said.Rowser then threw the dog over his shoulders and ducked into his nearby home, closing the door behind him, the court doc said.When Rowser stepped back outside, cops who had surrounded the home arrested and charged him with third-degree robbery and endangering the welfare of a child, prosecutors said.The dog was returned to the victim and no injuries were reported, cops said. Rowser is no stranger to law enforcement — a detective recognized him from an arrest just a day earlier, according to the complaint.
