Your tax dollars at work: The city Health Department’s new Global Oppression and Public Health Working Group is, no surprise, another Israel-bashing outfit — and likely a sign of many more to come under Mayor Zohran Mamdani.It transparently has nothing to do with health in New York City (or anywhere), really: It’s all about the usual “pro-Palestinian” noise about “genocide.”Yet at least some public resources are supporting it: The “working group” met in the middle of the workday Tuesday at DOH headquarters in Long Island City (with some staff zooming in); how many were on the clock?This is simply rank politicization, washed through the lefty-groupthink insistence that everything bad is related and driven by some combination of capitalism, white supremacy, “settler colonialism” and so on: The uni-cause is all.If he had any interest in doing his job, the mayor would stand up for professionalism in the city workforce by ordering the “working group” shut down, or at least forced off city property and out of working hours.But our mayor is a committed, lifelong Israel-hater himself, and his Democratic Socialist movement is all about using public resources to fuel its “transformative” agenda.So he’s more far likely to defend this by dishonestly pretending the issue is city employees’ right to have and express their own views etc.etc.
