Knicks signing Jeremy Sochan in big bench boost

The Knicks’ bench is getting an unexpected post-trade-deadline jolt.Jeremy Sochan, a 6-foot-8 wing who was waived by the Spurs this week, plans to sign with the Knicks for the rest of the season on a league-minimum contract after he clears waivers, The Post’s Stefan Bondy confirmed Thursday.The 22-year-old fell out of favor with the Spurs this season, but the No.9 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft showed potential during his first three seasons and is a strong defender.Through the end of last season, Sochan had averaged 11.4 points and 6.1 rebounds in roughly 27 minutes per game across 184 games.He made the All-Rookie team in 2022-23.The Knicks acquired guard Jose Alvarado from the Pelicans at the deadline to strengthen their bench, with Miles McBride out for a while after undergoing sports hernia surgery.
