Disneyland swarmed by police over report of mass shooting as swatting hoax probed

Pranksters are now “swatting” Mickey.Police swarmed Disneyland on Wednesday night after a mass shooting was reported at the popular Southern California theme park.The Anaheim Police Department told KTLA the hoax calls were believed to be a swatting incident, a dangerous prank in which an individual makes a false emergency report of a shooting or bomb threat to send heavily armed police to an unsuspecting target.At least a dozen Anaheim police cruisers showed up to the theme park, according to KTLA.Police cleared the scene but did not evacuate the park.A live streamer named Oblivion was streaming from Disneyland on Wednesday night when security and local police questioned him before kicking him out of the park, video of the exchange showed.

He said he was the victim of “swatting,” though it’s not clear if his stream led to the large police response.“I’m streaming in front of 14,000 people.There’s someone that just called to get all these cops here,” he told authorities while streaming live.
