Disney bloodbath as new CEO announces 1,000 job cuts in brutal email to employees

The Walt Disney Company’s new chief executive announced in an early morning Tuesday email that the entertainment giant would slash 1,000 jobs in the latest blow to a major Hollywood studio.“Given the fast-moving pace of our industries, this requires us to constantly assess how to foster a more agile and technologically-enabled workforce to meet tomorrow’s needs,” Disney CEO Josh D’Amaro wrote in an email to employees, according to Reuters.“As a result, we will be eliminating roles in some parts of the company,” he added.The layoffs will hit a wide range of departments, including Disney’s studio and television divisions, as well as sports powerhouse ESPN.
